Back to Wordpress
I'm going back to a Wordpress.com blog host today.
http://psychsurvivor2.wordpress.com/
About $17.00 made on the ads here. Google doesn't write a cheque for small amounts. I received no money.
UPDATE: I think this whole blogging thing might be fake. Today July 16, 2010 I was not signed in to blogger, web-surfing and my old blog page was on display. I sign in and the web page changed to my last revision.

Aesop's Fables:The Hare and the Tortoise pg 36-37
Aesop's Fables
The Hare and the Tortoise pg 36-37
A Hare was continually poking fun at a tortoise because of the slowness of his pace. The tortoise tried not to be annoyed by the jeers of the hare, but one day in the presence of the other animals he was goaded into challenging the hare to a foot race.
"Why, this is a joke,"said the hare."You know that I can run circles around you."
"Enough of your boasting," said the tortoise.
"Let's get on with the race."
So the course was set by the animals, and the fox was chosen as judge. He gave a sharp bark and the race was on. Almost before you could say "scat" the hare was out of sight. The tortoise plodded along at his usual unhurried pace.
After a time the hare stopped to wait for the tortoise to come along. He waited for a long, long time until he began to get sleepy. "I'll just take a quick nap here in this soft grass, and then in the cool of the day I'll finish the race."
So he lay down and closed his eyes.
Meanwhile, the tortoise plodded on. He passed the sleeping hare, and was approaching the finish line when the hare awoke with a start. It was too late to save the race. Much ashamed, he crept away while all the animals at the finish line acclaimed the winner.
MORAL : Slow and steady wins the race.

Healthy Digestion
Update : Psychology Today has an article in November 2011 titled
"Your Backup Brain"with funny caricatures of the stomach.
_____________
Over at Beyond Meds I read.
Gianna "I talk about IBS on this site very often because IBS is rampant in the mental health community. Having a healthy gut is imperative if one wants a healthy mind. I think that perhaps psychotropics make it worse too."
I think she might be not fully awake when she wrote this post.
Psychotropics definitely can negatively affect the digestion. If the meds/drugs/chemicals lower feelings of stress, they might help digestion in a positive way.
Gastroparesis, also called delayed gastric emptying, is a disorder in which the stomach takes too long to empty its contents. Normally, the stomach contracts to move food down into the small intestine for digestion. The vagus nerve controls the movement of food from the stomach through the digestive tract. Gastroparesis occurs when the vagus nerve is damaged and the muscles of the stomach and intestines do not work normally. Food then moves slowly or stops moving through the digestive tract.
The vagus is also called the pneumogastric nerve since it innervates both the lungs and the stomach.
Vagotomy (cutting of the vagus nerve) is a now-obsolete therapy that was performed for peptic ulcer disease. Vagotomy is currently being researched as a less invasive alternative weight loss procedure to gastric bypass surgery. The procedure curbs the feeling of hunger and is sometimes performed in conjunction with putting bands on patients' stomachs, resulting in average weight loss of 43% at six months with diet and exercise.
Our stomach and muscles contract to move the food along the intestine. The meds/drugs/chemicals that affect the brain, also affect digestion.
"The gut contains 100 million neurons - more than the spinal cord. Major neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, glutamate, norephinephrine and nitric oxide are in the gut."
I don't know about the veracity of the quote, but feeling hungry or feeling constipated is a basic emotion we all need to have as a human being. Without it we would be one step closer to a unfeeling machine.
