Today April 20 ,2020

This morning while walking to the park ahead of me, I saw a young boy with his mother pick up some garbage to throw out. Which he happily did. Murphy was against him when he tossed the garbage like a basketball shot and missed, but he didn't walk away, he picked up a second time. An inspiring thing to see. I wasn't going to do any cleaning myself and didn't bring any gloves or garbage bags. But due to witnessing the good will of the youngster, I felt I had to do some cleaning.
So I picked up a small amount that was on the shoreline.

As I was leaving the city of Montreal employees had come to collect the trash. Two guys. One to drive the truck , then get out and watch, and one to pick up and replace the black garbage bags out of the city garbage cans.

But these garbage men, just like Dollard des Ormeaux workers, only follow the letter of their job description.
Trash was all over the place and they ignored it as it wasn't in the garbage can.
Specifically there are these park tables, and who ever used them left paper cups and stuff all over. They didnt clean up after they used the public space.
The Montreal employees just ignored it all.
"Its not my job" they would say if asked.
The Dollard guys would not walk 30 odd feet to pick up a bunch of branches because the branches were not next to the sidewalk.

All these F'ers need to be fired in my opinion, but they won't be.
Whats the answer? I leave the garbage?

Garbage only breeds more garbage. When people see garbage around they don't give a second thought to dumping THEIR garbage , as it is already dirty.
Whats just a little bit more going to harm?
This is the reverse stone soup story. First we have an angry youth who does some polluting, or some drunks , or fishermen who's mommy didn't come with them to clean up after the baby. Then "Its Polluted! its horrible! Person throws down coffee cup/garbage in disgust. Next person who sees the garbage does the same until we have a mountain of garbage.
Everybody hating the garbage and the city for not cleaning up. Most everyone is too special to pick up garbage they see, but they can complain about it.
Everyone is recycling but no one is picking up the garbage that's out there already, and no ones seeing progress from recycling because everyone is a Chief and won't pick the garbage they see.
